NANDINI BAGLA CHIRIMAR

Nandini Bagla Chirimar grew up in Jaipur, India and started her art education at College of Art, New Delhi. She came to the USA in 1987 on a full scholarship from Cornell University, where she completed her BFA in Drawing and Painting. She did her MFA in painting with Grace Hartigan at the Hoffberger School of Painting, Maryland Institute College of Art. She was also awarded a residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture for the summer of 1991. In addition, she learned viscosity printmaking from Arun Bose and spent four years in Japan studying Japanese Woodblock Printing (Moku Hanga) with Taika Kinoshita. Nandini lives in New York City with her husband and two daughters. She also teaches art at several workshops, including Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop and Manhattan Graphics Center.

Nandini has shown her work at many international venues, including Twelve Gates Gallery, Philadelphia; Queens Museum of Art, New York; Ganges Gallery, Kolkata; India Art Fair, New Delhi; Loft at Lower Parel, Mumbai; Exhibit 320 Gallery, New Delhi; Allen Gallery, New York; Centre for International Modern Art (CIMA), Kolkata; Ono Gallery, Tokyo; CWAJ Print Shows, Tokyo; Taubman Art Museum, Virginia; AHAF Art Fair, Korea; SLICK II Art Fair, Paris; and in Erasing Borders Traveling Exhibitions. Most recently, Nandini was awarded the prestigious Joan Mitchell Painters and Sculptors Grant for 2016. Her work was previously presented by 12G at Slick Art Fair, Paris in “Not so black and white” (2010).
