Nihad Dukhan

is a Michigan-based Palestinian American master calligrapher

and professor of mechanical engineering, bridging analytical precision with artistic mastery.

Trained in Istanbul, he holds multiple ijazahs from master calligraphers including Hasan Çelebi, Mohamed Zakariya, and Abdul Razak Karakash, spanning scripts like Thuluth, Naskh, and Diwani. Since 1989, he's developed his own contemporary style rooted in this classical foundation.

His work draws from the Qur'an, the sayings of the Prophet ﷺ, Arabic poetry - and even the jazz of Miles Davis.
